Hungarian Kapisztrán Folk Ensemble of Winnipeg

The Hungarian Kapisztrán Folk Ensemble of Winnipeg has been a staple in the cultural community of Winnipeg since 1960. It continues to deliver on its main objectives, which are to foster the performance and study of Hungarian folksongs, dances, music and Folklore; to share with other Canadians the Hungarian cultural heritage; and thereby promote awareness of Canada’s cultural diversity. Our biggest annual activity that delivers on this mission is hosting the Hungary-Pannonia Pavilion at Folklorama, where we open our doors for the public to try our delicious cuisine, entertain with beautiful live music and dancing, and educate about our history and traditions. Our favourite thing to do is share our culture with our friends and loved ones. Group Message: ​To Kapisztrán, family means a deep and lasting connection rooted in shared heritage, culture, and tradition. Our Hungarian community is more than a group of individuals—it is an extended family that has supported and celebrated each other across generations and created lifelong bonds. Whether we see each other every week or only once in a while, the warmth of our greetings and the strength of our ties never fade. Family means showing up for one another, passing down traditions, and welcoming new members with open arms—just as we always have. In Kapisztrán, our dance is an expression of that love and unity that defines our Hungarian family.
